At J.S. McCarthy Packaging + Print, some of our most exciting work starts with a simple question:
What if we pushed this further?
That question led to the creation of our year-end mailer—the Mini-Maine Adventure Kit—a project designed to go beyond traditional direct mail and deliver a fully immersive packaging experience.
As the year came to a close, our team wanted to send something memorable to customers and prospects. Not just a box—but an experience that reflected who we are, where we’re from, and what we’re capable of.
We set out to capture the essence of Maine—its sense of exploration, craftsmanship, and natural beauty—in a format that recipients could interact with.
The Mini-Maine Adventure Kit was designed to unfold as a journey.
Each element inside the package was carefully considered:
By combining structural creativity with advanced finishing techniques like embossing, foiling, and precision diecutting, the piece became more than packaging—it became an experience.
And because everything was produced in-house, our team had full control over every detail, ensuring consistency from concept through completion.
What made this project especially meaningful was the collaboration behind it.
From design and prepress to press operators and finishing specialists, multiple teams contributed their expertise to bring the concept to life. It’s a great example of what happens when craftsmanship and creativity align.
The final piece didn’t just showcase our capabilities—it told a story.
It demonstrated how folding carton packaging can:
We’re proud to share that the Mini-Maine Adventure Kit was recently featured in PostPress Magazine, highlighting the innovation, craftsmanship, and collaboration behind the project.
Projects like this aren’t just creative exercises—they’re proof points.
They show what’s possible when you combine:
Whether you’re launching a new product or looking to stand out on shelf (or in the mailbox), the right packaging can make all the difference.
If you’d like to explore what’s possible for your next project, we’d love to connect.
