As part of their continuing
commitment to excellence, J.S. McCarthy Printers in Augusta, Maine has
transferred all of its electricity purchases to 100% wind-generated
power. This move is part of ongoing environmental initiatives aimed
at reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
J.S. McCarthy has purchased
renewable energy credits (REC’s) through Native Energy LLC, which
certifies that the power purchased by J.S. McCarthy comes from 100%
wind generation. In addition, the certification recognizes the power
as Green-e renewable energy. Green-e is an organization with a mission
to expand the demand for, and raise awareness about, renewable energy
generation. This is J.S. McCarthy’s latest undertaking aimed at
offering their customers a more environmentally viable option to fulfill
their printing needs.
Taking this full circle, J.S. McCarthy has implemented many additional changes to reduce their
overall electricity consumption. Two current projects include the installation
of energy-efficient fluorescent lighting and high efficiency air compressors,
which will result in reducing their annual electricity consumption by
6%. As J.S. McCarthy continues to expand, their goal is to continue
offering the highest quality product with the lowest possible impact
on the environment.
